Pixma G7065 Leftover Parts

CM99
Apprentice

I have a Pixma G7000 series printer (G7065) that has suffered at the hands of an unqualified "serviceman'. As a result two pieces associated with print head cleaning became detached. I have reattached one of them, the wiper blade arm, but I am unsure of the correct orientation of the second piece, which sits in front of the print head in the home position.  I am unsure of the function of this piece, which is hinged to  a metal bracket, accompanied by a very delicate spring. part.jpgIf anyone can assist me with the function or orientation I would be grateful.

Welcome to The Canon Forums!

We appreciate your participation, though we need to let you know that your product appears to be a model that is not supported by our team here at Canon USA. While the community is welcome to chime in, the Canon Community Forum is hosted and moderated within the United States by Canon USA. We are only able to provide support for Canon products manufactured for and used within the US market.

Yes, I was aware of your policy. But Canon Australia has been quite unhelpful, and operates an extremely sparse number of accredited service centres - none anywhere near me. So I will be grateful for any contributions from the Forum.

BTW, I think it unlikely that this part is unique to my model printer, which is why I headed my post 'G7000 series'. The part number is QC5 5891. So I hope it isn't the U.S. version of Canon's Unhelpfulness policy that is preventing you from assisting me with a simple request to understand this part's function and orientation.
