I have a Pixma TS8320 and have the auto paper tray retract selected to "ON." When I manually turn off the printer, the tray does auto retract. When the printer turns off automatically, the paper tray remains extended. Is that normal for the tray to stay extended for auto shutoff?

Greetings,
This is normal.
When set to on, the printer retracts the tray when it is powered off using the power button.
When Auto Off is set, it stays open.

I agree, it would be nice if it retracted at the set auto off interval.

Thanks for the detailed reply.
I think the problem with auto-retract is that, if the user hasn't removed his printouts, it would get all scrumpled up inside the machine and jam the mechanism. Of course this could be solved by having a detector added to the machine, but that's a hardware change with extra cost.
So I guess the idea is that when you pick up your printout, you press the off button for the tray to retract.
