PIXMA MX922 LCD screen won't go past setup diagram, PC says printer busy

Canon Pixma MX 922, powers on but never gets past the setup.

Can not access menu. It is stuck on the 6 page setup diagram.

Can not print. Attempts to print and communicate with the PC

yield "printer busy". There is NO error message. I have installed

the ink cartridges, and they show a RED led on all 4 of them.

Any suggestions ? Canon Support just takes me in to an endless loop

of automated useless messages that do not address my specific problem.

Thanks.

Hi,

I recommend performing a reset of the printer. While the printer is on, unplug the power cord from the printer. While the power is off, press the power button 5 times. After 60 seconds plug the power cord back in and power on the printer. If the ink is still detected but wont move forward with the setup, your Mx922 would require service.

If the printer is in it's 1 year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.

This time instead of getting the endless setup diagram I am getting error 1313 paper jam in the rear paper feeder. I will clear that and try the unplug and press power 5x. I may have tried that before. Printer is out of warranty. Bought a few years ago. Thanks. I will let you know if your suggestions work. Previously there was problem getting the ink cartridge headers to move into place. I had solved that and since then this problem of never ending setup screen happened. The canon site and support has not been helpful.
