PIXMA TS6420 jams when trying to print 8½" x 5½" paper

I just purchased a new TS6420 printer. With my old printer, I could put a 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 sheet of paper in the top feeder and it would print perfectly fine.   With this printer you have to insert it in a tray and  it jams every time,  how do I print an 8 1/2 x 5 1/2

Doesn't the printer have a rear feed tray? That is usually where custom paper sizes go.

Thank you. I did put the paper in the rear feeder but now I can’t figure out how to make the printer use that paper. I remove the regular size paper from the bottom tray and that didn’t work either.

What app are you trying to print from?

I have an Apple Mac desktop computer that I’m trying to print from.

But what software and what are you trying to print?

I am trying to print a mailing label out of eBay. I’m not sure what else I need to tell you. With my old printer, I could just put half a sheet of paper in the feeder and then it would just print.

When you press “print” does any window open where you can make selections?

So just use an 8.5 x 11 sheet to print the label. What's the real problem here?

Hello.

To utilize the full capabilities of your printer, you will need to install the Canon software and drivers instead of relying on AirPrint. You can get what you need from https://canon.us/TS6420Setup

You can find the various media sizes your printer accepts HERE.

There is a note below that section:

Special sizes

Special page sizes must be within the following limits:

  • Minimum size: 2.17 x 3.51 in. (55.0 x 89.0 mm)
  • Maximum size: 8.50 x 26.61 in. (215.9 x 676.0 mm)

cassette
