I have a pixma TS5151 That hasn’t moved in months, so it’s stationary and I have not moved it at all. 5 days ago I lifted the lid to remove the cartridges to replace them, and I never heard a shatter or anything. Last I checked the glass was fine - but when I opened the lid to remove the cartridges, I was already getting a 5012 error.
not understanding why the printer kept giving me the same error, I open the scan lid and I see the glass is completely shattered, like someone smashed it. I hadn’t opened the scanner in ages neither did the printer get touched. I’m at a loss. It’s still under warranty but how do I prove I didn’t do anything to cause this?

Greetings,
I believe the TS5151 was a product released in 2017 and was intended for sale in the UK, Africa and the Middle East.

Did you or someone else put something heavy or drop something on top of the printer? It's hard to imagine the glass breaking all by itself.

If i had dropped something or put something heavy on it i would’ve known it was that. It’s like someone punched the glass right at the corner, which is impossible to have happened.

Like I said, IMPOSSIBLE. nothing was on it. There was a printer underneath. A cheaper on that is just fine. It’s like someone punched it. This is on canon I fear.

Greetings,
We're sorry about your scanner glass, but the only thing we can offer is speculation on what happened. You will need to seek support including repair in the region of the world where you live. Canon USA is not able to support products intended for sale in other regions. I provided the link for worldwide support above.
I hope you can get issue addressed in the country or region where you reside.
