When printing from the glass top of my pixma TS3522 there is a 1 inch black line down the left side

If this happens when making copies, then the scanning element has experienced an hardware failure and would require service.
If the printer is in its 1-year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.
