PIXMA TS3122 - error code P10

I have a P10 error code on my TS3122 which i have been using with no problems for several years.  i have turned off the printer and unplugged as suggested in the manual.  error remains when i power back up, plus the cartridges do not slide in position for me to change out the ink cartridge when i open the compartment.  can anyone suggest a solution.  i am not interested in paying the $19.99 one time incident payment for a canon tech to contact me.

Hi Scott,

First, please check your PIXMA TS3122 for jammed paper / foreign objects.  Please follow all of the steps provided on this page from the manual:

TS3100 series > List of Support Codes (Paper Jams) 

Also, this error can possibly be cleared by cleaning the encoder/timing strip inside of your TS3122.

Please follow the steps in this Knowledgebase Article to clean the encoder/timing strip:

Cleaning the Encoder Film - TS3100 Series

If the error persists, your PIXMA TS3122 would require service.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
