PIXMA TR8620a - Samsung smartphone tries to print from rear feeder

I installed a new Canon TR8620a inkjet printer. I was able to connect it to my Windows 11 laptop via wifi and print on it. (I did learn that apparently this particular printer only works at the 2.4GHz wifi speed).

My problem is trying to then print from two different Samsung Android smartphone. On a Samsung zfold5 phone, I installed the canon app. When I attempt to print from the phone, it does so, but only using paper from the rear feeder. What is that ?

Hi TomTheMoose,

You stated that you installed the "canon app".   Are you referring to the Canon PRINT app?

When using the Canon PRINT app, the app is assuming that you are printing photos.  Photo paper can only be loaded in the rear tray of your TR8620a.  That is why the paper feed source defaults to the rear tray.
