I didn't think I was a moron until I started using my Canon TR8600a. I have many two sided documents that need to be scanned to my computer. I have figured out how to get them there, but as my computer is in a different room than my printer, I need to be able to scan a doc from the platen and then flip it over and continue the scan into one doc. I can do it from my computer but I'm wearing out my shoes running back and forth to scan, run to printer and flip the page and run back to computer to hit scan again and then run back to the printer to retrieve the original. What am i missing here?

Hi,
The "a" model is not duplex. It is manual only so when you finish scanning a document or multiple documents, you will need to flip them over and scan the backside.

Thank you for the reply. This printer does have an auto feed which will work for scanning multiple pages, I dont have an issue flipping a double sided document to scan both pages into one file, but I can only do it from my desktop which makes me have to run back and forth many times when i have a lot of double sided docs to scan. I'm at a loss to figure out how to do this from the printer screen which will save me the time and effort of buying track shoes to scan into one document. I talked to a Canon support guy and he had no idea what I was talking about. Please, please...let me know what I can do. Thanks again for taking the time to read and reply.

Hi,
You can setup your TR8620a to scan documents directly to your computer when scanning from the printer's operation. Please click HERE for more information about setting up/scanning from the printer's operation panel.

Please re-read my notes carefully. I can scan from my printer control screen and know how to send it to my desktop. What I cannot do is figure out how to scan multiple pages into one document USING THE PRINTER SCREEN. IT DOWS NOT GIVE ME THE OPTION TO SCAN ANOTHER PAGE BY OPENING THE PLATEN COVER, FLIPPING THE DOC AND THEN SCANNING TO ONE FILE. I cannot make this more clear. I appreciate greatly your attempt to help me, but I’m still stumped.

Hi,
I apologize for misunderstanding your request. I see you mention the platen cover and not giving you the option to scan another document. If you have multiple pages, try loading them in the ADF on the printer then adjust the scan settings on the printer screen.
Once that is done, scan the documents and after they go through the ADF, check to see if a message appears about scanning the back side of the documents.
If this option does not work, I recommend reaching out to Canon support. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

i have registered my printer and spoke to one Canon support guy. He had no idea what to do about my issue. He apparently was new to Canon. I cannot seem to find the right number for tech support for my printer.
