PIXMA TR7120 keeps going offline from my network

My Canon TR7120 keeps dropping its connection to my network.  When I try to re-establish the connection thru the diagnose and repair function in the canon printer app, it keeps telling me that there is a communication error with the printer.  When I do finally get it to try to reconnect to the network, it wants to connect to my Spectrum internet.  I have an Orbi mesh extender so I can access the net from the whole house.  The program that is trying to reconnect the printer to the net does not give me an option to select the Orbi.  I am completely frustrated and ready to toss the printer into the trash.  Can anyone help me fix this problem.  Thanks.

Your Orbi needs to be broadcasting a 2.4 ghz signal in order for your printer to see the SSID and connect.

@hpkessler

Please provide us a broader picture of your network environment.

Is spectrum your internet service provider?  What hardware did they provide you.

Netgear orbi is not a stand-alone extender. It's a router and whole home mesh system.

If used in conjunction with other hardware, it may require special configuration.

As my colleague pointed out, your printer requires a 2.4 GHz wireless broadcast that uses WPA2 encryption.

We need to understand how your network is configured in order to advise you.
