Was it a Canon cartridge? The following may help you:

Troubleshooting Blurry Black Printing on PIXMA TR4720

Common Causes

  • Clogged Print Head: If the print head nozzles are clogged, it can lead to blurry prints.
  • Incorrect Cartridge Installation: If the FINE cartridge is not installed properly, it may not eject ink correctly.
  • Low Ink Levels: Insufficient ink in the cartridges can cause poor print quality.

Steps to Fix Blurry Prints

  1. Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the ink cartridges have enough ink. Replace them if they are low.

  2. Print Nozzle Check Pattern:

    • This helps determine if the ink is being ejected properly.
    • If the pattern shows missing lines or streaks, proceed to clean the print head.
  3. Clean the Print Head:

    • Use the printer's maintenance settings to clean the print head.
    • If the issue persists, perform a deep cleaning of the print head.
  4. Check Cartridge Installation:

    • Remove and reinstall the FINE cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly.
    • Make sure there is no orange tape left on the cartridges.
  5. Adjust Print Quality Settings:

    • In the printer driver settings, increase the print quality to see if it improves the output.

Additional Tips

  • Use Quality Paper: Ensure you are using the correct type of paper for printing.
  • Allow Printer to Rest: If the printer has been used extensively, turn it off for 24 hours to allow the print head to recover.
