PIXMA MX490 error code says contact service center

In the midst of printing, my MX490 stopped, lights flashed, and I got the error code B204, both on the printer and on my laptop. This says unplug the printer and contact the service center. But apparently the service center no longer takes calls on my older model and I cannot find any other way to contact them. It's annoying that throughout the manual and website, it says "contact service center" without information on how to do so. Am I just going to have to buy a new printer?  Any ideas? The printer has worked well as both printer and scanner until today. Turning off, unplugging and plugging in again results in the same flashing lights and error message.

The error code on your Pixma MX490 indicating to "contact service center" typically means there is a significant issue that requires professional assistance, often related to the ink absorber being nearly full. It is advisable to take your printer to a service center for repair or maintenance, but I think realistically you may be needing a new printer.

This is Canon's guide to ink absorber full error:

Hi lewelfh,

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PIXMA MX490 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!
