PIXMA MX490 Compatibility with Windows 11

PIXMA MX490. Have been using hard-wired on a Lenovo laptop with Windows 10. Had no problem downloading drivers for use with this laptop.

Just purchased new Lenovo laptop with Windows 11 and have been unsuccessful in downloading printer drivers to work with this laptop.

Is PIXMA MX490 compatible with Windows 11? Windows 11 was not an OS option. If not, is there any way to use this printer with the new laptop and Windows 11? Thank you for any help with this.

Thank you, ArthurJ. I finally took it to my local computer expert, who found what the Lenovo tech support guy didn't. There was a Lenovo firmware update for the new laptop. Once he updated the firmware, he had no trouble connecting to the printer.

Hi,

Please click HERE and when the support page for your printer opens, select the software and driver's option. You will want to change the operating system to Windows 11.

You will then be able to download and install the Print Driver and Scan Utility Installer Ver.1.02 file that contains the printer driver, scanner driver and scanning software.

i downloaded the driver for it and it remains undiscoverable.

Make sure firmware is up-to-date. That was the issue on my system.

how do i do that? i sent for the install disc.

I'm not sure of the details, as I had a computer guy do it. My laptop is a Lenovo, and I know the firmware download came from their website. Sometimes a keyword search will walk you through it, but often the instructions I find this way don't match what I have on my screen, so it's not helpful. (I spent 3 hours on the phone with the Lenovo tech, who couldn't figure out what was needed. Lenovo did issue a refund. I took the laptop and printer to my local computer shop where I bought the laptop, and they figured out the firmware wasn't up-to-date on this new laptop and did the download.) Good luck. (I'm still searching for a good computer tech to handle these things for me.)

Does the new Lenovo laptop by any chance have an ARM cpu-processor, rather than an Intel or AMD?

If that's the case, unless the driver you downloaded is for Windows 11 ARM, it won't work. And an ARM driver may not be available.

It's got an Intel processor. Whatever firmware the computer guy downloaded got the printer and the laptop talking to each other and it's working fine. I chose to go back to Windows 10 which is also working well for me.
