Recently, my PIXMA MX892 has started to a clear black line from the top of the page to the bottom of the page on scans from the auto feeder. Scannin from the flatbed is fine. How do I fix this?

Hi abfocke,
Since the copies are coming out fine when you print directly from the platen glass, there is a possibility that cleaning the rollers in the ADF along with a certain area of the platen glass may resolve your issue. To do this, please follow these steps:
1. Please turn off the printer, then open the left-side cover of the ADF. Inside of the cover, you should see several rubber rollers.
2. With a moistened cotton swab (you can moisten the swab with water or glass cleaner), please clean each of the rollers, being sure to rotate the rollers with the swab instead of directly touching it.
3. Once the rollers have been cleaned, please close the ADF cover.
4. Next, please open the printer cover to get to the platen glass. With the moistened swab, please clean the small strip of the glass that is off to the left hand side, separated from the main scan area of the glass.
5. Once the strip of glass on the inside cover has been cleaned, please attempt to photocopy and scan from the ADF again.
Hope this helps!

I have a similar problem with a Pixma MX882. It copies just fine from the platen glass, but leaves a solid vertical line approximately 3 inches from the left side of the page when copied or scanned with the auto feed. I cleaned the platen glass and the two rubber rollers under the auto feed cover along with anything else in the vicinity.I also cleaned the piece of glass to the left of the platen glass.
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Mac
