PIXMA MG7520 - incorrect print head issue

I keep getting error code 1403 with my PIXMA MG7520 printer. "The type of print head is incorrect. Install the correct print head."  I still have the original printhead in the machine (QY6-0083). I have tried all the troubleshooting suggestions on this topic, including re-setting the print head, restoring it, taking it out to clean, putting new ink cartridges in. Nothing has worked. What do I need to do? I used to be able to periodically print throughout getting these error messages, but now I cannot print at all (I've tried holding down the "stop" button, unplugging the machine, etc). Please advise.

Because reseating the printhead did not clear the 1403 error, your PIXMA MG7520 would require service.

You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program.  This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system.  This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
