I have a MG6320 color printer. I have installed new ink. I haven't used it in a while since I got another printer which only prints in black and white. I wanted to use the color printer but it will not print anything....not even in black.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi jpkopins! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that your prints are coming out blank when you use your PIXMA MG3620, but your copies are turning out fine. I can help with this.
If you are using the Black Start button to make your copies, then your printing issues are being caused by a bad color cartridge. If you are using the Color Start button to make your copies, then your print issues are due to a bad Black cartridge. The Black Start button has a white diamond on it and the Color Start button has a green diamond on it.
Before you do any type of troubleshooting, I do recommend checking the bottom of your ink cartridges. When you open an ink package for the first time, there is a bright, neon-orange colored piece of tape covering the brass-colored metal portions of the bottom of the cartridge. The safety-colored tape needs to be removed. Otherwise, the ink won’t be able to get through that tape and onto the paper.
You’ll see an illustration of the tape that needs to be removed in step 5 of the following section of the manual:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/MG3600%20series/EN/BG/bg-ink1000.html
Please don’t remove the brass-colored metal sheet. Only the bright neon orange (safety-orange) tape shown in step 5 needs to be removed.
If the tape has already been removed, please check the Ink indicator located near the buttons on the printer. The following section of the manual will help with that:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/MG3600%20series/EN/BG/bg-ink2100.html
If the lamps for the Color and Black ink are turned on, that means that cartridge could be very low on ink and needs to be replaced. If the lamps are off, it is likely that you are dealing with clogged nozzles.
The nozzles are in the bottom of the cartridge. If they have dried up, we recommend the Cleaning and Deep Cleaning options mentioned in the printer’s manual. However, you should first print a nozzle check pattern to verify you are dealing with clogged nozzles. It’s not the same as a print head alignment.
The instructions that you need for printing and checking the nozzle check pattern can be found in the following portions of the user’s manual:
Printing a Nozzle Check Pattern on plain letter-size paper:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/MG3600%20series/EN/BG/bg-maintenance1200.html
Checking the results of the Nozzle Check pattern:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/MG3600%20series/EN/BG/bg-maintenance1300.html
The nozzle check should have a BK pattern at the top (for the black ink) and then color samples below for C (Cyan), M (Magenta), and Y (Yellow). The second bar for each color will be slightly lighter than the top. The colored bars will look pastel, so they won’t be very dark.
If any of those portions (BK or Colors) are streaky (contains streaks of white lines), you should do a Cleaning. If the sections or colors are missing (do not appear), then you should start with a Deep Cleaning instead.
The instructions for Cleaning and Deep Cleaning can be found in the following sections of the manual.
Cleaning the Print Head Nozzles:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/MG3600%20series/EN/BG/bg-maintenance1400.html
Deep Cleaning the Print Head Nozzles:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/MG3600%20series/EN/BG/bg-maintenance1500.html
After you do a Cleaning, you should print the nozzle check pattern again to see if there is improvement. If there is no improvement, you can try the Deep Cleaning. We recommend doing the Deep Cleaning option one time. Then, wait 6-18 hours before you attempt another Deep Cleaning. Please don’t wait longer than 24 hours before your next Deep Clean attempt since you may be giving the ink time to dry up again.
It is best to wait at least 6 hours between each deep cleaning. This gives the fresh ink time to soak through the clog and loosen it (like Drano). After you’ve waited 6 hours, you can do another Deep Clean and print a nozzle check pattern. If the pattern shows no improvement, you should wait another 6 hours before you try a third and last Deep Cleaning.
If the nozzle check isn’t perfect, but shows improvement, you can continue with the Cleanings or Deep Cleanings until the pattern looks good. If the pattern has not improved after a third deep cleaning attempt or if it stops improving, it would be best to replace the ink cartridge with a new one.
We do not recommend any other ways of cleaning the print head nozzles other than the cleaning and deep cleaning options mentioned in the manual. Any other methods can damage the cartridge and the printer.
If you do need to purchase a new cartridge, please print at least once every two weeks to keep the nozzles from clogging. If you do not have anything to print, you can print a nozzle check pattern.
I hope this information helps. Thanks for choosing Canon.

Hi G Cravens! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that your prints are coming out blank when you use your PIXMA MG3620. I can help with this.
You mention that you have not used the printer in a while since you purchased another printer that prints only in black and white. We do recommend using the MG3620 at least once every two weeks. This keeps the inks flowing through the nozzles properly. If the printer sits unused, the ink in the nozzles will dry up and clog.
Before you do any type of troubleshooting, I do recommend checking the bottom of your ink cartridges. When you open an ink package for the first time, there is a bright, neon-orange colored piece of tape covering the brass-colored metal portions of the bottom of the cartridge.
