Hi Deons51,

The 5 blinks error is an indication that your printer does not recognize one or both of the ink cartridges in your PIXMA MG3620.

Please make sure that you are using Canon ink cartridges.  You can try using third party ink , but those cartridges have not been tested and we cannot guarantee they will work properly.

Also, please make sure that you have both the black ink cartridge and color ink cartridge installed in your printer.  You will get this error if one or both ink cartridges are not inserted.

Please also make sure that you are using cartridges that are compatible with your PIXMA MG3620.  The following ink cartridges can be used with your printer:

PG-240
PG-240XL
PG-240XXL

CL-241
CL-214XL

Ink for your PIXMA MG3620 can be purchased directly from Canon using this link:

Also, turned off printer for 10 minutes, pressed the button 5 times, why is it still not working?

MG3620  The printer was working, but an out of ink, so I replaced the cartridges.  Now I'm getting flashing yellow lights, 5 times, then a pause.  I don't think it matters about my version of Windows because it was printing before I ran out of ink

Also, I checked the ink cartridges and wiped off the bottom where the ink comes out.  I'm getting black fingers so I know the cartridges have ink

To help us use only Canon Ink Cartridges, please make them more affordable.  I would gladly buy the name brand, but they are too expensive.  Sad profit over reliability is Canon's answer to this problem.
