PIXMA MG3520 can't scan on macOS Sonoma, OK on High Sierra & Big Sur

I have a Pixma 3500 series (I think it's 3520) and I'm running it on a Mac Sonoma.  I can print with it fine, but when I try to scan I get the following message:

Cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons:

- Scanner is turned off.

- USB cable is disconnected.

I have tried deleting the printer and adding it again.  I have tried turning off all programs and restarting the computer.  What else can I try?

Thanks for joining the conversation, kennyh!

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer model you're using.  We have two printers with the number 3520 in their name, specifically the PIXMA MG3520 and the PIXMA TS3520. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.

Thanks and have a great day!

PIXMA MG3520.

Using the same printer, I can scan on my old MacAir running High Sierra and my daughter's MacAir running Big Sur.  But for this one when I go to the Printers & Scanners, I do not see an option to Print and Scan like I do with the others.
