PIXMA G7020 how to optimize print settings for a certain sized envelope?

DragonClaw

I sell items on etsy I send via USPS with a pre-printed label.

The label format is 4X6 and I do not want to print it on a thermal printer and stick it on.

I use the back feed ramp to feed in envelopes.

I got a new laptop and do not have access to the old presets.

The envelope is about 5 3/4 x 4/12. With the Canon, I feed in the envelope on the side using the back ramp.

But if I use shrink to fit, it centers it and lowers it down.

I basically want to make a default sizing/print setting in the Canon options so it prints using as much of the envelope as possible while not being far down.

Often times when I print, it is sideways, or moved too far down/left and not large enough. I have played with the settins a lot, but I do not know how to fully compensate for this. I also see there is a weird shaped border the printer cannot use. I do not know how to consider this when sizing for printing. I can't make it print as fast as it used to either. If I change the document type, it doesn't allow me to use the back ramp.

Also, I cannot figure out what dimensions it should be and if it need to be portrait or landscape.

What do I do? I am wasting dozens of envelopes trying to fix this.

I want to just have my defaults set,  no dragging, no nothing. I am trying to simplify the process, not make it harder.

I hope you can find a good simple fix.

A knowledge person could definitely help guide me in this. I got almost all the way there by myself before I lost the settings I had.

I don't use photoshop myself but I noticed it has a position and size field at the bottom of your screenshot. Can you make adjustments there to get it to print correctly?

Yes,  which adjustments account for the border and the differential in size/proportions to be able to utilize the most amount of space?

This is what I found:

Adjusting Position and Size in Photoshop

Setting Image Position

To adjust the position of an image in Photoshop, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Move Tool: Click on the Move Tool in the toolbar.

  2. Select the Layer: Click on the layer of the image you want to move in the Layers panel.

  3. Move the Image: Click and drag the image to the desired position. Hold the Shift key while dragging to constrain the movement vertically or horizontally.

Resizing Images

To change the size of an image or frame:

  1. Select the Frame: Click on the frame thumbnail in the Layers panel.

  2. Transform the Image: Press CTRL + T (or CMD + T on Mac) to activate the Free Transform tool.

  3. Resize: Drag the corners of the bounding box to resize the image. Hold the Shift key to maintain the aspect ratio.

  4. Confirm Changes: Press Enter (or Return) to apply the transformation.

Adjusting Canvas Size

To change the canvas size:

  1. Go to Image Menu: Click on Image in the top menu.

  2. Select Canvas Size: Choose Canvas Size from the dropdown.

  3. Set New Dimensions: Enter the new width and height, then click OK.

Yes,  I'm well aware of how to adjust an image in photoshop manually.

I just needed to figure out how to be able to set my printer the right way so it will have seamless printing and maximise the space.
