PIXMA G3202 "The printer is performing another operation"

printer states "The printer is performing another operation" but it's brand new and just installed.  Any suggestions?

Are you using your PIXMA G3202 wirelessly?
Or with a USB cable?

What version of Windows are you using?
If you are using a Mac, what version of OSX is installed?

Is the error light blinking on your printer?  If it is, how many times does it blink before there is a pause?
