I have a Canon Pixma MX860. It has been giving me errors. I found that cleaning the white plastic absorber thingy under the print head will allow me to print a few more copies. Now I've lost the thingy. I need to find a replacement. What is it called? Where can I find one?

Thanks for posting!
While our Forum Community members are welcome to chime in, the PIXMA MX860 has been retired. That means we do not offer support for the printer or updated drivers. We recommend updating to a more modern printer and reaching out to our Canon Upgrade Program specialist who will go over the best options for upgrading your printer. They can be reached at 866-443-8002.

Greetings ,
If the "thingy" you are referring to is a pad, it's called an ink absorber. To my knowledge these are not available for sale. If the product were still under support I would contact the parts department but since it's not, parts may no longer be manufactured or available.
The printer is 16 years old. By now you have probably gotten a good return on your investment. It might be time to consider a new device for your household or business.

Thank you for your response. Yes this printer has given me excellent service for many years. It is the best printer I've ever owned and I have recommended it to others. And it has not broken down! It has simply filled up with ink. Now I am supposed to trash a perfectly good printer because there is no way to empty the waste ink. This is shameful.
