question about ip8720 printer repair

ive had my ip8720 printer since about april of 2020, and she has served me so well. i was doing a big printing session about a week ago when i changed out one of the ink carts, and afterwards it stopped working. upon further digging i noticed one of the tiny metal pins that connects the ink cartridge to the printer was missing. specifically in the cyan slot. im not sure how i managed to lose it, but it won't print anything now. is this a fixable issue? can i replace this pin myself, or would i have to take it in to get serviced somewhere? i really dont want to have to replace this printer if i can avoid it, i really try to avoid wasting as much as i can. please help!!! im desperate!!!

Hi saltysnack,

Because a part is broken, your PIXMA iP8720 would require service.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
