Message 'Ending Please wait momentarily TR 8550

For no obvious reason my TR 8550 gives this message on the screen

Message 'Ending Please wait momentarily

I cannot get rid of this message, the only way is to pull the mains cable out of the back of the printer!!

This has happened a few times recently.
