MP980 MAC connection issue

I can not connect my Pixma MP980 to my Macbook Pro. Is there a way around this? I can not get it to connect to my phone either. So far the only thing I could find out was that I need some kind of router? I have no clue why, or what that would be. Help Please!

What version of OSX is installed on your Mac?

To determine this, click on the Apple in the upper left corner and then About This Mac.

To use your PIXMA MP980 wirelessly, a router would ne necessary.  If you have a Wi-Fi network in the location that you are using your PIXMA MP980, you should be able to use your PIXMA MP980 wirelessly with that network.
