Got the message from my printer that a firmware update was available.
clicked on download, after a while got the message download failed, please press the <ON> button
no response
checking this forum showed 2 silimar threads for different moddels MG7720/50, where Unplugging the power supply resolved the issue.
first attempt got me back to downloading, but resulted in the same message
seccond attempt took the process forward one step and "resolved the issue
Canon, Please provide a better upgrade process, because unplugging it from the grid in order to finish the upgrade cannot be the solution!
For all other users, you can try the same approach, in the end it has worked, but according to canon it may break your printer.

Greetings Yasantra,
I strongly suggest that you not rely on automaitc update, or using wireless to upgrade the F/W on your printer.
These methods can introduce multiple points of failure and leave your device in a error, corrupt or unstable condition.
Instead use the FW update utility and run from a PC or Mac connected directly to your network via ethernet. Printer should be connected via ethernet as well. This will ensure the highest possiblity for success.
