MG6821 - British Ink incompatible with US Printer

dblaquiere

Hello,

I have a MG6821 printer purchased in USA, but I have moved to the UK.  I am unable to purchase the 271 (US) ink locally.  I found some 571 (UK) ink that is the exact same size and fits perfectly into my printer; however, I then get an error code 1684 that the ink cannot be recognized.

Is there any workaround to get my printer to accept the 571 (UK) ink?

What are other solutions - perhaps getting the 271 (US) ink cartridges refilled somewhere?

The cost of shipping the 271(US) ink is nearly the same price as a new printer.  I do not care to spend the money on a new printer or paying the astronomical shipping cost to ship ink from US to UK.

Please help!

Thank you!

Greetings,

Trying to use your US based printer abroad is not a winning proposition.

Whats going to save you tie most time and money?  Buying a Canon (or other) printer intended for the country where you reside.

You'll waste a lot of time trying to figure out how to get ink, instead of printing.

This is really sad.  I'm especially thinking of military families that often bounce between the US and overseas.

When overseas, I was able to purchase a TV.  Came with NTSC, PAL and SECAM support.  Still worked a-ok in the US.

It just doesn't make any sense to penalize consumers for moving.
