PIXMA MX922 software: Solution needed to MacOS legacy system extension

Dear Canon Community Support,

I am using a Canon MX922 printer with my MacBook (MacOS Sequoia). For several months I have been getting a "Legacy System Extension" error message every so often. The message states "Existing software on your system loaded a system extension signed by "Canon Inc." will be incompatible with a future version of macOS. Contact the developer for support."

I deleted all Canon software, removed/re-installed the printer/scanner. But I still get the error message.

Can anyone provide information on how to address this issue?

Thank you

Based on the support site macOS 13 was the last time the driver was updated. I think the warning means that at some future update the driver may not function anymore. Users need to balance the potential benefits of new operating systems against the possible loss of functionality of connected devices.

If you're seeing a Legacy System Extension warning for your Canon MX922 on macOS Sequoia, it's due to outdated Canon drivers that macOS now flags as incompatible. Even after uninstalling, remnants of legacy software may persist. At Sparx IT Solutions, we recommend legacy software modernization—updating or replacing unsupported drivers with native macOS alternatives like AirPrint. Also, manually remove leftover files from Liberary Extension or related folders. Check Canon’s site for updated drivers or contact their support. Modernizing ensures compatibility, stability, and security as macOS continues phasing out legacy system extensions in favor of newer, more secure frameworks.
