MG5622 error code 5100

Right away- out of the box!  I am getting this error after installing ink wells.  They are all seated properly and I see no paper in the tracks.....but the cartridge carrier will not move back into the open so any lights show as on or off and so I can remove and re-seat the ink wells!  NOW...JUST WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?  I need a printer doctor ASAP!!!

Hello BrammyT!

This is what an Error Code 5100 means:

Printer error has occurred.
<Action>
Cancel printing, turn off the machine, then confirm the following.
  • Confirm that there are no materials (e.g. the protective material or jammed paper) that is preventing the print head holder from moving. If any, remove the materials.
  • Confirm that the ink tanks are installed properly. Push down the ink tanks until they click into places.
After confirming the conditions above, turn on the machine again.

Stephen, thank you for your response, but I already read your advice in the manual and it didn't change anything. I was hoping to find a resolution to a problem that is preventing me from printing my first page with a new Canon printer!
