I have a MG5520 printer/scanner.  I am getting message that ink absorber is full.  Can I reach the pad and clean it and then replace it?  If so , where is it?  Thanks.

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PIXMA MG5520 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

So a "retired" product means you no longer make parts for it? My MG5520 is still working fine but I am getting the support code: 1700 The ink absorber is "almost full" Press okay button to continue printing. Contact the service Center.

Why can't I replace or clean the absorber? I don't need a new printer!

Greetings,

In many cases placement of the ink absorber is part of the manufacturing process.  It's not typically user replaceable.

The MG5520 is 13 yrs old.  This is the reason why it's no longer serviceable.
