Thank you for your support.  It turns out that the problem was the pdf file I was trying to print.  Other files have no trouble.  Now I need to find another way to obtain the form.

Printer not responding.  Device USBPRINT\CanonMG2500_series\7&2d705939&0&USB001 requires further installation.

Windows 11.

I have already searched your knowledge base and done what it says.  There are no additional "support options."

Device manager says "This device is working properly."

Did you try this driver?

https://sg.canon/en/support/0100668904

Also is the printer connected to the same USB port it was originally installed on?

LPT1, same as always.

Hello!
That "Requires further installation" status in Windows typically indicates that the Plug-and-Play process started but didn't complete the driver association. Since the MG2522 is a corded USB printer, connection stability and the correct software package are key.

Recommended Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check the Connection: Ensure you are using a high-speed USB 2.0 cable no longer than 6 feet. Plug it directly into the motherboard ports on the back of your PC rather than a front-panel port or a USB hub.

  2. Clear the Partial Installation:

    • Disconnect the printer USB cable.

    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.

    • If you see the MG2522 (it may be grayed out), right-click and select Remove Device.

    • Restart your computer.

  3. Manual Setup (The "Clean" Way):

    • Go to https://ij.start.canon/MG2522 to download the official setup utility.

    • Run the installer before plugging the printer back in. Only connect the USB cable when the software explicitly asks you to do so to prevent Windows from trying to install its own generic driver simultaneously.

Important Note: The MG2522 is a "Host-Based" printer. If your PC’s own USB chipset drivers are outdated, it can interfere with the printer's ability to finish the installation. Ensure your Windows Updates are current before starting the Canon setup.

If these steps don't get you back to printing, we’d love to help you walk through it. You can reach us at 800-OK-CANON (800-652-2666) Monday–Friday, 9am–6pm (ET), or log in at canon.us/account.

Been there, done them.  Printer not responding, still. I'll try

the phone number tomorrow.

Thanks for your response.

LPT 1 is usually a parallel port not a USB, that is most likely your issue.

USB cannot directly function as LPT1, but you can configure a USB printer to emulate LPT1 for compatibility with older software. This often involves using a virtual port or a specific adapter.

So, what you are telling me is that Canon no longer supports parallel printers.  When did this change occur and how do I back out the software updates which implemented the change.
