Lighting strike on mx922

We had a lighting storm this pas week i was using my printer and it went off i was unable to get it back on was completely dead tried plugging in other out lets but still no power tried calling canon keep getting msg to put in phone number but they said no account with this number i re registered my numbers and called back got the same response so i dumped the printer in the recycled bin a bought a new one. I’m trying to get FPL to pay me i have there insurance for surge protection and they need a tech to say it was the lighting that caused it any help would be great.
