I am trying to install the scanner software on a Dell Latitude laptop (actually our corporate IT tried it since it is their laptop and only they have administrator rights. The printer/scanner however is mine). I downloaded the software from the canon site today. However, the install stops when it asks for a CD-ROM. This laptop (and another personal laptop that I just purchased and will eventually need to do this on it), does not have a CD-ROM. I do have an original CD with the software. How do I install the scanner software on the Dell?

Apparently the request for a CD-ROM occurs when you try to run the win-mg2900-1_1-ucd.exe directly. We were able to successfully install the software by unzipping the file first and then running MSetup4.exe.

Greetings,
Yes. The .exe file is a self-executing ZIP. The other thing you could have done would be to change the file extension from .exe > .zip.
In any event, you figured it out.

Greetings,
The installation software does not require a CDROM.

The fellow who was installing it for me claimed it did.
Here is the name of the software I used: win-mg2900-1_1-ucd
It was downloaded yesterday from the Canon site.
