Installing Ink Cartridges on MX492( I have the correct cartridges!)

TFSpaniel

Read the instructions that came with printer.  Even viewed instuctions on You Tube.  I am generally pretty savvy technically but for the life of me I cannot figure it out.  Have installed ink cartridges on many of my  more advanced printers. Could I be missing a part on my printer.  Dunno!  Help!  If I had a good picture of the ink compartment before installing I might be able to determine if I am stupid or something is missing?

Hi TFSpaniel!

Welcome to the Canon forum and thanks for your post! We have a handy video over on our YouTube channel specifically about putting the ink cartridges into the PIXMA MX492, and there are some views of the printer before, during, and after the process. Have you seen the video below?

If you continue to run into difficulty, can you let us know more about where you are having difficulty with the process? Also, if this is a time-sensitive matter, our US-based technical support team is standing by, ready to help via Email at http://Canon.us/SupportCF

Thanks!

Yes I saw the You Tube Video as previously stated.  Did not help.  Looking at the picture prior to inserting the cartridges the plastic pockets with sides(?) that it slides into is NOT present on my printer.  It is empty!  Where are they?  Since i have had the printer only for several months I was using the ink that was present initialy.  It ran out two days ago and I purchased new ink cartridges.

Thanks for the quick response!  Yes I am stupid.  Gotta turn the printer on before installing cartridges.  That really works great!  Not telling my wife or she will have me tested for Alzheimers.  LOL!
