IP8720 ADMIN password not working

New IP8720

Installed and works fine.

ADMIN password is supposed to be the serial number.
Yes, the 4 alpha characters are in CAPS
Doesn't work

I have also tried "canon" and every possible combination

I'm in the same spot, and no one has ever given me an answer other than the default answer of pressing the resume button.  IT DOESN'T WORK!!!

Did you put paper in the printer?

Did you then press and hold the Resume button until the power button flashes 6 times?

Did you then use the password as printed on that page?

Paper is in it.  Held it for 2 times, 6 times, 9 times, and 15 times.  All suggested by other users and Canon.  All I get is a blank page.  Each time a blank page.
