I keep getting Error 5200 on my Pixma MX492. I have tried all the recommended troubleshooting and still no success. Upon calling Tech Support I was connected with a sketchy company attempting to bully me into a $199 fix that appeared completed unrelated to my presenting issue. At a loss, other than trashing the printer and getting a different brand!

Thanks for joining the conversation, FancyArtsy! It sounds like whoever you spoke to wasn't Canon USA. While you're welcome to get help from the Canon Community, our own support team is ready to help you if you need assistance right now. Please take a moment to register your PIXMA MX492 first and you'll get access to all of your support options including our 800 number.
Hope this helps!

Hi Danny! Thank you for your response. My product is already registered, and I did call your official 800 number at (800) 385-2155. Is that not the right number? Please advise.

Support will never, ever be $199 from Canon USA. The 800-385-2155 number is for our sales team, which would be to upgrade your printer if it's broken. If you're out of warranty, your support fee would be $20 to speak with someone one-on-one. If they can't remedy the issue over the phone, that fee would be credited toward purchasing a new unit.
