I have an error of 1410 that will not go away. The printer cartridge had been working fine, then the printer said it did not recognize it. I went ahead and replaced it with an original Canon cartridge as usual and the printer is still giving me the error. I work off of windows 10 if that makes any difference.

I received error 1410 and did all the things advised. I even removed the print head and cleaned it. All to no effect.
We bought a new MX922 and it works fine wtih the cartridge supplier we use. As a last effort before trashing the non-functional MX922, I called Canon support and described the problem. The agent stepped me through some steps that were totally non-rational, but totally corrective. We now own two printers that work.
Here is the solution:
The problem is that the error-code-1410 screen gives reverse information. For example, if it shows PGBK as the failed cartridge that is the reverse of the actual fact. No matter how many PGBK cartridges we tried, the message came back that the PGBK cartridge was not recognized. In fact, the PGBK was the only functional cartridge. The agent walked me through a replacement step - cartridge by cartridge. First I replace the M (magenta) cartridge and closed all the covers. The error screen showed M and PGBK as the failed cartridges (totally reverse of the fact). I continued replacing the cartridges that were showing as good until the last showing-good one was replaced. Then the printer work up and worked fine. KUDOS to the Canon technical support agent.
I don't understand such reverse instructions. If I were looking for a bad actor, I would suggest that this is an attempt to have the printer owner take the printer in for repair and pay the charge for a simple, DIY repair, plus the cost of new cartridges. If that is so, this is a bad business model. Shame on you.

Hi!
I just want to say that I created an account because I wanted to say thank you.
I could not find another solution until I found your post!
You are the real MVP!
Thanks so much.

Was about to throw printer out after spending a number of hours cleaning the print head, changing the cartridge identified by the machine, etc. Who would have thought that the faulty cartridge was not the one identified. Shame on Canon for not publishing this counterintyuitive solution instead of finding it through a user! A design defect should be identified and published by the manufacturer,

Thanks for giving me hope!
I tried it, but it did not work. Still getting 1410 error and 4 unrecognized cartridges.
Can you please go into more detail of what you did? Did you start by taking out all of the cartridges, for example? Does it matter the order in which you replace them? Did you close the cover after inserting each cartridge? DId you ever turn the power off during this process? And any other detail so I can make sure that this works or does not for me. Thanks!

Thank you for your post. Just spotted your reply and it worked for me also although I have to replace 5 perfectly good non-Canon ink cartriges. I guess that's what Canon wanted us to do in the first place ! Thanks again for your help. Appreciate it.

that error 1410 is a shocker. like one tank went out and it was actually a different one that needed replacement. we really like this printer. glad that canon has this support page. I changed the other cartridges and ... the error went away!

I made an account specifically to reply to this thread. I too, had the dreaded 1410 error code on my MX922 Canon printer and I had scored the internet for solutions, to no avail. Until I stumbled upon this post! Well, after replacing all of the ink cartridges with new ones (one at a time as explained earlier here) my printer is back working like new! I've had this baby for 7 years now and it has gotten me through college! I know it's old, but it has sentimental value and I didn't want to junk it! Thanks for this post and I'm so glad my Canon can live to see another day! I also recommend updating your firmware right afterward!
