Canon MX340 Printer wont install on Windows 10pro wont recognise printer during install usb or lan ?

Dear Community

I have a Canon MX340, which has been a brilliant printer although the ink cartridges do not seem to last very long anymore. I had a new talk talk router, like for like all set up, yet when i try to install the latest mx340 printer driver software it fails at every point to recognise the printer.

It does not matter whether i select either install option USB/Lan Wireless it fails to recognise the Printer. I suspect old printer software is blocking its install, I have removed the printer from the devices and notice in Prog Files old Canon folders that wont delete/remove.

Id be very grateful of help to get this up and running again as im stuck without it.

Kind Regards and Thanks in Advance..

Thanks for letting us know what Canon product you've got. The PIXMA MX340 is an older model which we have retired. While that means that Canon USA no longer offers direct support for it, your friends here in the Canon Community are welcome to offer suggestions!

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

Hi Danny

Thanks for advising the PIXMA MX340 is an older model which you have retired, this should not stop it working though, as I do believe its an installation issue not a fault with the printer as the printer software will run, but wont recognise it during detection (both usb and lan). This is frustrating as i do see old canon software in the app store that will not remove: Canon MP Navigator 3.1

Do you have a Canon software removal tool that will run and remove all old instances of Canon Software that may be blocking installation.

Thanks, Id be very grateful of your or the Canon Community offer of suggestions.

Greetings,

The Add/Remove Programs Applet under Programs and Features in Control Panel is where you uninstall software.  Simply deleting a device from windows does not remove its drivers or supporting software.
