Canon D480 - "Check Document"

BostonDan

I keep receiving the message "Check Document" after a paper jam was removed from the document feeder. I've opened the document feeder and cannot find anything out of place. Are there any areas of the document feeder that I should be looking more closely at or any other suggestions on what I should be looking for? In advance - Thanks for the help.

Hi BostonDan.

I know the "Check Document" error can be frustrating.  I will be glad to assist you.

I recommend opening the feeder again and verifying that there are no small pieces of paper under the tray.  Please follow the instructions below:

1. Please power off the machine and unplug it from the wall.  Next, open the ADF cover.

2. Open the inner cover, holding it by its front tab.

3. Lift the release lever (A) until it clicks into place.

4. Look for paper in the bottom of the tray.

note:

Do not force a jammed paper out of the machine as it may tear.

5. Return the release lever (A) to its original position.

6. Close the inner cover.

7. Close the ADF cover.

Caution:

Be careful not to get your fingers caught.

8. Open the ADF and look for any pieces of paper and gently pull them out.

9. Close the ADF.

Note:

Be careful not to get your fingers caught.

I hope this information is helpful to you.  If you receive the same error after performing the steps above, please contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).

Thanks very much.  I went through this over and over and finally found the problem.  There was a tiny peice of paper that I had to remove with tweasers that was causing the problem.  Everything is functional now.  Best - Dan
