PIXMA G6020 - No back light on display window

I just took this printer out of the box and set it up.  There is no back light on the display window.  Had to use a flash light to read it.  So I returned it to the seller immediately.  I would say this is a really bad defect.  I bought this model because it had a paper drawer.  Very disappointed in my first Canon Printer.

I'm sorry to hear about your issues.  That is a pretty well documented weakness of that model.  I suggest that you do a bit more research before your next printer purchase so that you can have a higher probability of satisfaction and ensure it has the features that are most important to you.  No printer is perfect, for sure.  Below is from the Best Buy review summary.  That being said, many review summaries - Amazon and several others do NOT mention it, so it is fair to say your complaint made my knowing about made it an easy complaint to find.

A backlit screen would have added cost and not have made the printing any better.  I have an imagePROGRAPH Pro-1100 - top of the line consumer photo printer and it doesn't have a touchscreen.  The user control is via arrows and a button.  Of course I would love a touch-screen, but what I really care about is the printing, and that's very nice, and I'm glad they kept the cost down and put the value in the printing.

I personally tend to read the 1-star and 2-star reviews and see how many of the issues others experienced are ones that I'm willing to take a chance on.  I recommend that to you and everyone else when making an important purchase so that you're not surprised and/or choose a model more suitable to your expectations.

"Customers are saying

Customers value the exceptional print quality and the overall ease of use that this printer provides. While users appreciate the straightforward setup and reliable performance, some have noted concerns regarding the lack of a backlit display and occasional connectivity issues. Additionally, a few customers mentioned that the control panel can be difficult to read and that the device produces some noise during operation."

>> Owns/Owned both Canon EOS mirrorless full-frame and APS-C cameras and associated RF, RF-S and EF adapted lenses - inventory tends to change on short notice. Same for flashes, tripods, bags, straps, etc.

>>The opinions and assistance are my own. Please don't blame Canon for any mistakes on my part.

ladyxx,.

The same design (flaw) (feature) is built into the G7020 model. No backlit LCD screen.

Grumble.
