Hello,
I just bought a Canon Pixma IX6850 and can't get it to work.
The printer itself is set up, testprint done, and wifi connected and working! (solid blue light and found by wifi on windows)
Windows finds it in "add printer" but when I add it, it just says "driver not available". Installing the official software package (win-ix6800-1_2-n_mcd) doesn't do anything and trying to install just the drivers directly (xp68-win-ix6800-6_00d-ea33_3) just tells me that no IJ-printer is installed correctly.
What do I have to do? I can't connect by USB or Ethernet as I don't have the cables for that.
I hope there is a solution and I don't have to ship it back...
BR

Order a printer cable, one is almost necessary to troubleshoot and to use a widebody photo printer. A 6ft USB printer cable for this printer is 7.50 from Amazon, which is not much considering the cost of the printer. A 6ft ethernet cable, which would connect your printer to your router ethernet port is 6.99 and also available from Amazon. I have a wide body Canon printer as well. I print and frame large format matted images which are sold in galleries in the town where I live. I do not use wifi, I use a printer USB cable connection.
Until you can obtain a cable you can use this guide to hopefully complete the wifi install of the printer to your pc. It uses a different program than the IJ utility, and seems to be more successful to get a wifi connection to work.
