Trying to connect wirelessly through the mobile app and everything works fine. The printer screen says press ok and when I do, it doesn’t connect and goes back to step 1.

There is not a lot that can go wrong when using the Canon mobile app but it can. This is the guide and it has a couple of things to try (most are obvious) to get the devices to talk to each other:

Troubleshooting PIXMA TS702a Connection Issues

If your PIXMA TS702a printer is not connecting after the final step in the mobile app setup, follow these troubleshooting steps.

Check Wi-Fi Connection

  • Ensure your smartphone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
  • Verify that you have selected the correct network name (SSID) that starts with "Canon_ij_".

Restart Devices

  1. Turn off your PIXMA TS702a printer.
  2. Restart your smartphone.
  3. Turn the printer back on and attempt the connection process again.

Connection Steps Recap

To ensure you are following the correct setup process, here’s a quick recap:

Step Action
1 Open your smartphone's Wi-Fi settings.
2 Tap the network name starting with "Canon_ij_".
3 Open the Canon app and follow the on-screen instructions.

Additional Tips

  • If the "Canon_ij_" network does not appear, check if the printer is powered on and in Wi-Fi setup mode.
  • Make sure your smartphone's Wi-Fi is enabled.
  • If you have a wireless router, ensure your smartphone is connected to it.

I did all of those things. The app says communicating with printer and then says it couldn’t connect while the printer says connection complete, press ok

Greetings,

The printer requires a 2.4 GHz broadcast that uses WPA2 encryption.  Can you please confirm your network meets these requirements?

The TS702a does not have a 5ghz radio and cannot connect to a 5ghz broadcast.  If you have a dual or tri-band router that is using the same SSID network name for all broadcasts, try temporarily disabling any of the unsupported bands while making a connection then re-enable once the printer has successfully connected.
