This is a "call to arms" for all of you Canon customers who have had this problem and have had their printers disabled because of it. Please respond with the model of your printer and if you were able to fix it, what you did to fix it.
We need to put pressure on Canon to respond this product defect. It appears to be bad firmware that does not allow the user to override the problem and to continue to use the printer even in a degraded mode. From my investigations the problem is NOT a printhead issue - no way one can be printing fine and then have this error alert without having changed the printhead or ink cartridges!
Canon, PLEASE take this issue seriously and provide a solution across the affected models. If nothing else there should be a trade-in allowance for those printers that have been affected by this product defect.
I have had many Canon printers because they have superior functional specifications. I want to be able to continue using Canon products but only if I can have confidence that this product defect will not destroy my investment.
If Canon is unresponsive our next step should be to aggressively publisize this product defect on social media and on major product vendor outlet sites as negatives reviews.
Forum Users, please reply with your affected model number(s) and with details of any succdessful fix procedure.

So go to the website and check, already! Use email address as ID and "forgot password", if it applies. Login and see if printer was registered.

I have been complaining since the beginning and never, not once, received help from Canon, they just flatly refuse to help.
God bless

Mp620 with incorrect printhead error. Tried all suggested methods and new ink. Very reluctant to purchase a replacement print head as most responses indicate the print head is not the issue but rather some sort of obsolescence planned by Cannon. I loved this printer, but I wil not repurchse with this brand. Shame on them for forcing consumers to resort to legal action just to get what they paid for. I have a seriously old HP that has hobbled along for over a decade. WTH Canon?

I've given up on my MP830 as a printer. (It was great for a long time.) But you'd think they'd at least let it continue to function as a scanner. No go. Has anyone figured out a way to get it to scan?

Your out of luck, Canon has written us off, most are like you, good customers that Canon is willing to sacrifice for a few bucks, I lost about $100 or more in ink, and a very good multifunction printer that I really liked. But no go, nothing we can do buy complain here, I will continue to follow this page until they finally take it down. Too bad, I really liked their products, but our only choice is to try and find non Canon products to replace it.
God bless you and Canon

If you are successful you may get enough to buy a new ink cartridge, what I don't understand is the scanning part won't work amd it has nothing to do with printing, some people believe it is simply a but that shuts down the printer, for some unknown reason. I wonder what Canon would do if I paid them with a cheque that had the print vanish after it had been processed. I think I wouldn't get away with it that easy.
God bless you

I got the error after 2 yrs, mine was MG5320. The printer is sitting on my desk for the last 10 days, while I keep on trying new methods to "clean" the head. I would really appreciate, if Canon would send me a replacement, asap.

I had exactly the same problem but the timing couldn't have been worse. I was preparing to travel and needed to print my boarding pass. Well, that isn't terribly serious but when I returned from my travels (late evening December 7) I now learn that date was the deadline for getting into the class action suit.
It infuriates me that Canon denies that there is anything wrong.
Can't they read??? Where do they think these complaints are coming from.
I have been recommending Canon printers to my friends but no more. And assuming I now need to replace this printer, it won't be a Canon.
Unfortunately I just bought new ink cartridges and they are expensive. When I check to see what other Canon printers they can be used with, it seems that my store doesn't sell them. Weird. Is this a gimmick??
