WIndows machine?
You need to edit your Windows registry and convince the installer that the software already exists on your computer. This is simpler than it sounds. Here are four links, each one will explain step-by-step how to get one of these programs up and running.
And that's all there is to it. Now go get your software up and running. You already paid for the camera; you might as well have access to the free stuff that's supposed to come with it.

Hi, quickscoper!
So that the Community can help you better, we will need to know exactly what model Canon camera you're using and what Computer Operating System you're using (Windows XP/Vista/7/8 or Mac 10.x). Any error messages or other details you'd like to give will only help the Community better understand your issue!
Thanks and have a great day!

Quickscoper,
You should be able to download the software for your particular camera from the Canon web site and run the install from your hard drive.

You only need to hack the registry if Canon still requires an original installation before installing downloads. You could find a computer/laptop with both a CD and a USB port and copy the disk to a USB flash drive. Then try installing from the flash drive.
Or you can follow the procedure below and see if the software can be downloaded and installed without first requiring an installation. Let us know what you have tried.
Download the software from the Canon Web Site: www.canonusa.com. Go to the site and click on Consumer & Home Office. You will see a drop-down list and under products click on "Cameras". Then select your camera type: PowerShot or EOS. You will get a page of cameras select your model and then click on Drivers and Software. The browser should detect your OS and then select "Software". You should see a list of products to click to download. Accept the User Agreement and the download should start. The page will go back to Accept or Decline option. If you decline, it will take you back to the software selections and you can download the next product.
