i have a mac running os 12.7.5 and a canon 60D What software do I use in place of image browser

Have you looked at the Canon Digital Photo Professional software. It is not the fastest but is good for reviewing images and focus points as well as culling images that do not make the grade. It also allows for editing and corrections for Canon lenses. When you enter the site it should recognize you OS and supply you with the proper downloads. Bonus, it's free.
