Utility Software for T5i

pldsmiles

I recently acquired a Rebel t5i.  I wanted to download the Utility software and ensure the camera software is updated.  I have Windows 11.  I've tried downloading early versions of Utility and it errors out saying I need to download Microsoft's Silverlight.    What options are left?

Thanks for posting!

While our Forum Community members are welcome to chime in, your product has been retired. Once a product is retired, the official Canon support content (troubleshooting articles, user guides, how-to videos, etc.) may be removed from the Canon website. To take advantage of Canon's innovative technologies, consider reaching out to our Canon Upgrade Specialists at 1-800-443-8002.

Have a great day!

Thank you!  Will the upgrade specialist be able to help me or will they try to convince me that I need to upgrade my camera?

Your camera is retired. The software will not be updated beyond the last update. Our team no longer supports the camera. We encourage you to upgrade your camera to a modern model that is supported on Windows 11.

1. What "Utility software" are you talking about?  Microsoft Silverlight is obsolete in any case, and never was required for Canon's EOS Utility.

2. The camera's "software" is called Firmware. You can see what version of firmware the camera currently has through Menu settings, and see what the latest firmware version is available from Canon.

3. As for installing a firmware update, it can be done via EOS Utility, or without EOS Utility. When you download the firmware, it comes with instructions for either method.

If you have the user manual for the camera, read it for information. If you don't have it, download it from Canon.
