Trying to update R5M2. First time went without issue. Now I’m unable to transfer the .fir file to my card. I’m using the correct operating system, Mac. l know to put it in the root. I’ve tried both cards.
what am I missing? Thanks

John,
I thought that I would tell you the solution. I’m not real bright. I wrote to Angelbird and asked them. My card and reader are Angelbird. On the reader there is a very tiny switch that prevents writing on the card. That was on. I turned it off, everything worked.
‘Thanks for all your effort.
Hsppy Holidays.

Glad it worked out. I never saw that feature on other card readers. It would be easy to miss. Select Solved so others don’t chime in. Happy Holidays to you as well.

John,
Thankyou for your help.
I just drag it to the card, not to any folder. It just bounces back.

You said CF card. I am assuming CFExpress based on camera model. I am not aware of any locking feature for those cards. If it was an SD card there is a lock.
Edit- Deleted. I misread camera model.

There is 1 SD card and 1 CF express. But you thought was perfect, I never would have thought of it. No on and off switch. I did write to Angelbird to ask them if they had an idea. I will let you know.
I really appreciate your help. I’m 8o and things don’t come quickly any more

Just so everyone is on the same page - you don't open the .fir file. You move it over to the file onto the card. When you connect the card to your Mac, you should see it mounted (usually on your desktop). You'll also see the firmware update mounted on your desktop (like jrhoffman's screenshot) when you download the firmware update. All you need to do is open the mounted firmware update to see the items, open your mounted card, and then simply drag the .fir file over to the card. That's all. Then, eject the card and put it into your camera.
The mounted firmware also has a folder with PDF files. Those are step-by-step instructions. Feel free to follow along with those!

That’s exactly what I do, but the .fir file just bounces off the card icon.

That’s exactly what I do. The file does not download to the card when I drag and drop.
I just wrote to Angelbird to ask them if they know what’s going on. The cards work when I take a photo so they should be a problem.
‘Thanks for helping.
