Tahoe 26.1 vs EOS Utility 3

Looking for confirmation before wasting a lot of time....I have a 1Dx that I use EOS utility on occasionally ...so went to use it and it doesn't load properly and I had to force quit it, so re-downloaded etc...and its still doesn't run...so I am concluding that Canon hasn't updated the EOS utility that I "qualify" for with my 1DX to run on the latest Mac OS...correct?

If so what is the lates OS it will work on?

thanks

What do you mean, "the current EU works but I don't qualify for it?" If you physically possess an EOS camera you own, you qualify.

And we do still support the EOS-1D x. The software can be found on its support page HERE or within your Canon Account at https://canon.us/account

We have not made any software releases since macOS 26 for this model, so you'll just want to change the dropdown to macOS Sequoia:

I don’t keep up with Apple OS releases.  Apple likes to telease a major update every 6-8 weeks.  I gave away my Mac laptop to a relative because I got tired of the merry-go-round.

I see Apple announced this update on 11/03/2025.  What’s the release date for the version of the EOS Utility app you are installing? It usually takes Canon 3-5 months to catch up.

Meanwhile, Apple has released more updates, or announced when the next major update will be released.  Canon is not the only company that goes through this, either.

Hmmm....I was figuring that since Canon no longer supports the 1Dx and my serial number only allows me to download EU 3, that the current EU works but I don't qualify for it, nor would it work with my 1Dx...I have an older Mac ...going to switch to using that and see...

thanks

if you need to install any Canon apps on the older computer, then you will need to install the release version that targets your computer hardware and OS version. !!!

Stephen, thank you!

Did as you instructed, the install hung up on trying to close the "open EOS Utility app" which wasn't visible in "force quit"" window, so I rebooted to clear out whatever was giving it the impression that EOS app was running and everything loaded correctly and is currently working with my camera.  I was able to get the WFT-E6A for ~ $25 did I waste $25 or will it still work with current OS and iOS?

Greetings conwayte,

Per review, the WFT-E6A should still function with the EOS Utility application if the application is installed and running on your computer. Regarding the Canon Camera Connect mobile app, we show that only the EOS-1D X Mark II and EOS-1D X Mark III camera bodies are supported.
