Hi I have a canon R7 and I can’t get the software update in the camera connect app to work . Everything is fine on the app but it says to follow the instructions on the camera screen and all the camera screen does is freeze up the and I can’t do anything with it the only option it gives is the cancel and that does nothing and the ok is in gray so you can’t hit it

What do you see on the camera screen when it seems to freeze up?

Is it asking you to continue or cancel?  Did you know that the touchscreen is disabled when you perform a firmware update?

Greetings,

While the CC App is convenient, the best and safest way to upgrade the camera's firmware is to copy the .FIR file directly to the root of a freshly formatted SD card.

If your camera is freezing, it might be because it's not in the correct mode.  Try in P, M, TV or Av.

It's also possible the firmware was not copied to the card or is incomplete or corrupt.  When you use wireless connection? When you use wireless for transfer, you introduce a potential point of failure. I know millions of people use this feature successfully, but it's not one I recommend.

If you want to try again, use one of the modes I suggested above, reformat the card, repair the phone with the camera and try again.

If this fails, I'd use my preferred method.  Let us know if you have any questions.
