Room for improvement in the R6M2 firmware.

I've had my R6M2 for a while and have been through the advanced manual several times looking for solutions. Given that the camera is nothing more than a specialty computer running firmware that controls mechanics of the camera here are some things that are simple and can be improved upon in a future firmware update. I'm hoping that this reaches some of the Canon Devs that can implement change.

1) When silent shutter is enabled and the camera is turned off, the mechanical shutter isn't automatically closed. When you go to change lenses, this exposes the sensor to EVERYTHING. If there is a setting for this I would like to know.

2) You cannot simply erase the contents of both memory cards. The software allows you to format card 1 or card 2, but you cannot erase card 1 or card 2 as easily. You need to go to a different menu (wrench icon | sub menu1|Record funct+card/folder sel | Play | then select the other card). Only then can you go back to the other menu setting to erase the data on the other card. The Format and Erase options have different long term effects on the card overall health.

Good catch on the silent shutter issue, but why do you believe that formatting is more damaging to card life than erasure?  Thanks!

I would say that a low level format is the best for the card. Then your card doesn't need to move around deleted data.
