Photoshop Elements 2023 won't open CR3 files from EOS R6 Mark II

I recently purchased EOS R6 Mark II. I usually process my photos using Photoshop Element 2023.

It seems the Photoshop Element 2023 is not able to open the Raw file. It keeps asking me to install

the plug-in for raw file. I had EOS R and I used the same Photoshop Element 2023 to process the raw

file without any problem. They both CR3 files. Are there differences between the two cameras' raw files?

KVB,

Agree.  I offered up the Camera RAW update suggestion with the hopes it might resolve his issue.

If it doesn't, I agree.  Adobe is the best resource.  🤔

I have full blown PS and LR and it works so I  know it will work for you.

I think there is a "special 🤣 process" where you need to copy a specific file to a directory after running the Camera RAW upgrade.  Not sure, I don't use Adobe Products.  I found it searching google, similar to what was posted above.

"I think there is a "special  process" ...."

The upgrade "process" is seamless and totally automatic for PS and LR. I suspect PSE is the same but I have not used my PSE for several years. I am not in a position where I need to answer questions about it any more.

Dear Niubuobuo, have you resolved this issue after a year. I bought the Mark ii recently and on my program AfterShot3, I can't see the camera plugin to open the RAW files. Maybe you found some download

Hello, Steve!

I don't think you can load this type of plugin using AfterShot Pro 3. It requires a program update to make it compatible with cameras. 2021 was the last Canon update and it included the R5 and R6, maybe others, but those were the ones I was interested in. As of 2022, they did update some other non-Canon cameras. I checked for the R6 II, they haven't issued a release but I did submit a request for the R6 II and R5 II. I guess we will see. Since Corel sold out to Cascade Parent Limited, dba Alludo, they haven't updated any of their graphics software. PSP 2023 will open R6 II files, but not ASP 3.

The reason I have AfterShot is that I used it before Corel acquired it. It was Bibble and rebranded by Corel as AfterShot. In those days good Raw editors were hard to come by, especially multi-platform like Bibble was.

You may want to install Canons free Digital Photo Professional 4 and give it a try. It's simplistic and, depending on your computer, a bit slower than other programs, but does a really good job with Canon Raw files.
